Don't you think that a winery that's been producing wines since 1639 deserves at least it's own day?

Hugel Wines is located in Riquewihr, Alsace, France, an appelation famous for it's beautiful aromatic white wines.  This area has a colourful 2000 years plus history, and wine making in the area has undergone many challenges.  From wars, and more wars, to pestilence, land feuds etc. it's a testament to the Hugel family that they continue to produce world class wines into the 21st century.

Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc are all the varieties of grapes grown on the estate and bottled into distinctive wines that have come to define this region.

November 13, 2021 has been declared #HugelDay so we are pleased to be carrying and selling one of their signature wines, the Hugel Gewurztraminer.

A delicious wine,  this is a benchmark example of an aromatic Alsace Gewürztraminer, awash with aromas of roses, jasmine, mango and prickly pear. The palate is rich and intensely fruity, with an off-dry palate, perfectly balanced by lightning fresh, crisp acidity. 

Pair with a spicy Asian dish, smoked fish or with cheeses.   Bon Appetit!
